Well we are on week 25 so only 2 weeks left to our end of unit study! This week we concentrated on finishing up proejcts such as quill pens. We also received our wax sealing kit and it did work a lot better than regular candles! The wax was much thicker in consistancy and the stamps that came with it were very cute! The kids tried their hand at more wax sealing. Goosey's project for the week was a salt dough map of the US with the 13 Colonies outlined. Speedy's big project for the week was book binding! He researched how they were made and became determined to make one himself! He started by dying sheets of paper with coffee and then Goosey created a clothes line across our kitchen (it was quite the site to see)! Then Speedy created a loom of sorts to thread the book together. Next came the cardboard covers and gluing of the spine. The last step was gluing on the leather cover. This is the final book. Speedy said he would like to tool the leather but that is a project for another day!
