Goosey did manage to carve her pumpkin the other day and she decided to create a kittens in a basket display!
For our Halloween festivities, we started the day with school (much to my kids dismay), but we had fun learning about Denmark, specifically Legos! :o) Goosey did manage to carve her pumpkin the other day and she decided to create a kittens in a basket display! Our pets decided to dress up for Halloween today! Now that school is done for the day we plan on having a movie marathon with some Halloween movies!! We plan on watching Hotel Transylvania, Good Witch, Haunted Mansion, and some Twilight Zones in addition to enjoying some popcorn and candy! Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

For our country study we traveled to Denmark with Map Travelers! We learned that Legos originated there and since we are huge fans of Lego, that's where most of our study was concentrated at! We watched this neat video on Legos... We explored the history of Legos on the Lego website here. While we were learning about Denmark, Goosey decided to create a Halloween scene with Legos since today is Halloween!
We began week 10 this week of TOG after taking a week off. This week we did some pioneer crafts. Goosey made a braided rug to put in our kitchen. She tore some rags we had into strips and then braided them. Once braided, she wove them through some yarn and then tied the ends together. Speedy has begun reading David Copperfield as we enter into Victorian England in the next few weeks while Rosey is working on a Shakespeare project for CC.
Happy Fall! I've been lacking on the posts here. We have had some busy weeks and have been enjoying the fall weather so our hands on projects have been put on the back burner! Our geography studies took a brief halt and we trekked on with TOG. Most of the assignments have been reading so not much to document or take photos of. We finished the first unit of TOG and decided not to have an end of unit party for this one. We did manage to make our way through almost all of the movies based on Jane Austin's novels and we have all enjoyed them!! We watched Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, and Sense and Sensibility. We are looking forward to the next unit which is Victorian England among other topics! We did take some field trips which were fun! We attended a re-enactment of the Revolutionary War and walked around their encampment which was a lot of fun! When my aunt asked if we would like to pick chestnuts with her, we jumped at the chance as we have never picked chestnuts!! They are definately prickly and required some skill in picking them! We even made some scarecrows to decorate the front stoop!
